Hi folks It's that time again! 'fraid I won't be able to make the Glastonbury Katemas this year (sob) as I've already got tickets for the Womad festival the same weekend (any other Kate fans there?). Thought it might still be useful to repost some notes on getting there that I sent last year. Haven't double checked bus times etc, so best check them if using as they might have changed. Enjoy! Mike x

If you're still thinking about coming to Katemas at Glastonbury on Sunday here's what you need to know:

  1. Get yourself to Glastonbury on or before Sunday 29th July

  2. Look out for a big fuck-off hill (the "Tor")

  3. Climb up it

  4. See you at the top around 2pm

  5. Large numbers of fans are usually in the "Rifleman's Arms by late afternoon - and into the evening.

If you're coming by public transport you can get the local "Badgerline" bus service from Bristol or Bath, or the National Express have an hourly coach service from Victoria - there's one leaving at 9am on Sunday which arrives at 1.25. British Rail don't go directly to Glastonbury - check out the badgerline site for connecting buses if you are coming down by train. You can check times etc at the following:

If anyone wants to stay overnight, the "backpackers" does rooms for about £10 - pretty basic with shared rooms, but friendly and fun if you don't mind roughing it - good memories of finishing off (yet) another bottle in the shared lounge at 4am with a wierd and wonderful cast of fellow residents. Normally a few Kate fans stay here for the weekend (Jon and Dave are, I think, planning on going down Saturday am). Website for this is at http://www.backpackers-online.com/glastonbury/ or you can book on 01458 833353. Details of other hotels are at the "accommodation" tab on http://www.glastonbury.co.uk/ Hope lots of people make it and enjoy! Jealous as fuck that I can't go. Say hi to the Tor from me. Mike x

PS - I'm taking no credit for organising the event! Full credit should go to Peter and Krys from Homeground for that!
