A new 50-minute television documentary, ‘L’odyssée musicale de Kate Bush‘, has started streaming on the ARTE channel’s website in France, by director Sonia Gonzalez. The documentary is in the French language with only French and German audio/subtitles available, the French commentary is without overdubs during the interviews in English, so if you don’t have French you can enjoy those portions anyway! Watch the documentary online here. It will be aired on TV in France on October 10th.
Translated from the blurb: “A unique voice and a lush imagination: for nearly half a century, Kate Bush has captivated audiences and inspired generations of artists. A stroll through the enchanting world of this atypical pop star, celebrated as much for her musical genius as for her enduring independence.” One person interviewed is Leah Kardos, author of the new 33⅓ book on Hounds of Love, and it includes a clip of Leah’s great performance of Suspended in Gaffa. The documentary also features some brief, largely unseen footage of Kate arriving at the ‘People’s Banquet’ reception for the Queen’s 50th wedding anniversary in Whitehall, London on November 20th 1997, and also Kate attending the Q Awards in October 2001.
