The KT Bush Band play Norwich on Thursday 16th May

News of a new gig from The KT Bush Band at Epic Studios, Norwich, Thursday 16th May. Thanks to Vic King for letting me know.

The KT Bush Band was formed in 1977 by guitarist Brian Bath, drummer Vic King, bassist Del Palmer and Kate Bush on vocals and piano. Their set consisted of classic soul and rock covers, Brian’s original songs, and many of Kate’s songs before they were released on the EMI label. The band quickly gained a loyal and venue-filling following – playing gigs around well-known venues in London, performing songs like “James and the Cold Gun”, “Them Heavy People” and “Oh To Be in Love” long before they were released by songwriter Kate Bush on The Kick Inside.

Fast forward 40 years to 2017, Vic and Brian have taken The KT Bush Band back on the road: performing the music of Kate Bush, along with fascinating insights and anecdotes from the early days, and with some original KT Bush Band songs not heard since 1977!

Vic & Brian are joined by Sallie-Anne Hurst on Vocals, Steve Bevan on Bass, and Emily Francis on Keys.

KT Bush Band reforms with two original members – Brian Bath and Vic King!

KT Bush Band 2016

This news has left us with a warm, nostalgic feeling! Two of the original members of the KT Bush Band are returning to the stage with a new band re-creating Kate’s very earliest performances in pubs and clubs in 1977, and featuring original material performed in her early career. The other member of the KT Bush Band, apart from Kate, was Del Palmer (with a special mention for Paddy Bush, who helped out with lights and dropped in guitar and mandolin parts too!)

Drummer Vic King and guitarist Brian Bath who created the KT Bush Band in 1976 have been secretly preparing for a return to the stage since early 2014, and performance dates are now being scheduled for release.

Full details of the new band are on the website where visitors can also link to the band’s new Social Media pages! Wishing the lads every success with the shows.

Brian Bath page added

Here’s a chance to catch up on the music of another legend heavily associated with Kate…we’ve added a Brian Bath page to the features section here. Del Palmer has popped by to leave a comment about his friend there too. I’ll always remember Brian’s trippy cartoons from the early KBC newsletters, fans of those drawings will love the look of his Myspace page, link to that in our new page also. Check it out.
